Battlefield 4 is set to have a diverse main campaign. According to the game's official blog,
the single-player campaign will take players all around the world from
Azerbaijan to Shanghai to Singapore. DICE has also revealed some of the
details of the game's single-player campaign storyline.
The game will revolve around Sergeant Daniel Recker, member of an elite squad of soldiers known as Tombstone squad. While on a mission to collect intelligence from a defecting Russian General in Azerbaijan, the squad is discovered and they have to fight their way through waves of soldiers to escape.
The storyline then takes the squad to Shanghai, where Martial Law has been imposed. The squad has to extract a group of VIPs. China is in uproar because of the US's implications in the assassination of the future leader and voice for peace in China, Jin Jié.
Battlefield 4! Now with a globe-trotting campaign!
The story has never been the strongest points in modern military shooters like Battlefield and Call of Duty, and more often than not, these games have been criticised because of how linear and set-piece-dependent their campaigns have been. Battlefield 4 seems to be upping the ante, however, and the game’s story holds a lot of promise. Here’s hoping it doesn’t devolve into another explosion-filled movie with barely any interactivity.
